My Approach

The foundation of my work is centered on the idea that the therapeutic relationship we create is an integral part in forming change and supporting your path in therapy. I strive to foster a collaborative approach and non-judgmental environment through humor, empathy, and validation, which encourages exploration of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to ultimately lead to change. My approach is grounded in research-backed treatments personalized to your individual needs. My hope is that we can work together finding places to pause and determine how, or if, you want to pivot in a different direction. We will do this by identifying more effective ways to cope with big emotions, challenge worry thoughts, manage self-doubt, and understand what is contributing to these experiences. It takes a lot of courage to trust someone with your struggles and your strengths. To sit with someone and build upon their resilience is truly the reason I am a therapist.

I have specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based treatment that focuses on identifying and changing thoughts and behaviors that lead to feeling stuck. CBT allows us to highlight how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are inter-connected and can be applied to target areas of challenge. I utilize other modalities that build off this framework, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Behavioral Parent Training, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). I also have extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for children through adults which focuses on building tools to help create change while balancing awareness and acceptance as part of the treatment. DBT is an intervention that focuses on challenges with regulating emotions and can be helpful for those with a range of mood, anxiety, and behavioral difficulties. I often utilize an integrative approach to these treatments that pull from my foundation in attachment and psychodynamic theory along with mindfulness-based strategies to best meet the needs of the individual and their family.

I have provided individual, group, and family therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults in outpatient, inpatient, psychiatric emergency room, and school-based settings.

Education & Experience

I am a licensed psychologist in New York. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Lafayette College. I received my Master of Science in School Psychology and then earned my doctorate degree in School-Clinical Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University.

I completed my predoctoral clinical internship at Kings County Hospital where I worked with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families struggling with mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, and serious mental illness. While there, I received training in mindfulness-based strategies, specifically Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for teens (MBSR-T). Most recently I was an attending level clinical psychologist at the Child Mind Institute, where I also completed my postdoctoral fellowship. Throughout my time at the Child Mind Institute, I worked within the Mood Disorders Center where I specialized in treating mood disorders in children, teens, young adults, and their families. In addition to providing individual, parenting, and family sessions, I also ran various DBT groups. Along with clinical work, I contributed to developing a curriculum for bringing DBT to schools.
